PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKLIST

The follow items must be configured PRIOR to installing the IPVision software

Server

1.     Verify the operating system is updated with the latest patches

2.     Create a schedule for Disk Defragmenter to run (i.e.. 2:00 AM)

3.     Verify Microsoft  .NET 3.5 sp1 is installed

4.     If enabled, disable the FTP Server option under the Add/Remove Programs – Windows Features

5.     Verify Microsoft Installer 4.5 is present (XP Only). If not download here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=5a58b56f-60b6-4412-95b9-54d056d6f9f4

Workstation

1.     Verify the operating system is updated with the latest patches

2.     Disable Simple File Sharing under the Folder Options (Windows XP Workstation Only)

3.     Verify .NET 3.5 sp1 is installed

Network

1.     Verify all workgroup username and passwords match the username and passwords on the server
Note: This is only required when server is not part of a Windows domain

2.     Verify all network devices (servers, workstations, cameras, etc) are using static IP addresses and are configured with the same Default Gateway address

3.     Verify the following user is added to any network resources that the IPVision software will be accessing (including domain if applicable):

Username: IPVisionSoftware
Password: IPVision53787

Note:  This user account is created on the server by the  IPVision software

4. Ensure Name Resolution is properly configured on the network and all systems and network shares can be accessed using their NETBIOS name and not the IP Address (e.g. \\Server\EventDirect)
