Virtual Video Recording™ Sets the New Standard for Greater Scalability and Cost Reduction
Tampa, FL, October 26, 2009 — IPVision Software, the innovator in highly scalable, cost-effective IP video surveillance systems, introduced the Virtual Video Recorder™ (VVR™) and announced and the appointment of Mark Kolar to the position of executive vice president, strategic alliances and corporate strategy. The VVR introduction marks a significant milestone in the IP video surveillance industry by eliminating the need for costly, compute-intensive servers used as video recorders. As a network and physical security executive, Kolar’s appointment serves to underscore the compelling value of IPVision Software’s technology.
Unlike all Network Video Recorder (NVR) / Digital Video Recorder (DVR) products which are rooted on a 50 year old CCTV recording architecture that creates a server-intensive bottleneck, IPVision Software employs an open, but inherently different architecture. As a result, IPVision Software’s VVR™ video management solution virtualizes the video recording function thereby reducing the need for servers used as DVRs and NVRs without compromising video or security operations. In many cases, IPVision Software customers can enjoy savings of 25% to 66%, including commercial and enterprise-size organizations with distributed site challenges.
“After 5 years of development, and more than 3 years of demanding customer use, we are excited to demonstrably show a significant reduction in Total Cost of Ownership and unparalleled camera and storage scalability by using the Virtual Video Recording software”, said Mark Felberg, IPVision Software CEO and co-founder. “Having helped IPVision Software as a Strategic Advisor, we are also thrilled to have Mark Kolar formally join the IPVision Software team. Mark’s startup, leadership, and physical security market experience has helped put us on a path where we expect to see rapid growth”, continued Mr. Felberg.
Among Mr. Kolar’s new responsibilities, he will lead the company’s technology, systems integration and OEM partnership programs while also temporarily leading its Western-US sales efforts. Prior to joining IPVision Software, Mark held director and vice-president positions with Agent Vi, Cisco, and Verint where he led various business and channel initiatives. Mr Kolar also acted as CEO, CTO, and co-founder for several high-tech startups.
“Having worked with a good number of DVR and NVR products, I was very impressed with IPVision Software’s Virtual Video Recording™ architecture”, observed Mark. “After talking with many of their customers, including Verizon Wireless, ATC Logistics and Electronics, the Orlando Utilities Commission, several cities and federal agencies that have multiple sites and hundreds of cameras, I was sold on the technology and the cost savings benefits” Mark concluded.
